Spring is a long way off for Australians, but as we enter 2025, a lot of people are looking for ways to “spring clean” in spite of the season, especially as so much of the rest of the world is doing this too. After Christmas and Valentine’s Day, gifts and clutter stack up. Unwanted presents, snacks from the festive day, or even just old things you don’t use anymore. Studies show that spring cleaning is good for mental health and clarity, and can make you feel like the rest of the year will be productive.
But a spring clean doesn’t have to just apply to the items in your home: spring cleaning our hobbies and tidying up our routines can be another huge element of making ourselves feel refreshed and ready for the year ahead. In this article, we’re not just going to explore how you can revamp your home and the best brands to use for that purpose; we’re also going to look at refreshing and resetting your activities so you’re well-set for an incredible 2025 in every element of your life!
Hobbies are an area a lot of Australians struggle with as we approach the autumn months. Many of us opt for outdoor hobbies throughout the year since we’ve really got the climate for it; getting out in nature, enjoying the sun, swimming and surfing – it’s perfect. But as the temperature drops and the nights get longer, maybe you’re looking for some indoor suggestions that will let you actually enjoy the benefits of the thorough spring clean we’re going to undertake… so what can you do?
Well, if you want to stay active but you’re looking for indoor options, kickboxing, martial arts, and gyms can be decent picks. These will let you maintain your fitness year-round and they make a great change of pace. Of course, not everyone wants to be exercising all the time, so what other leisure options are there?
Bars and nightclubs tend to be popular, and that brings us to an activity Australia is well known for: gambling. The casino is an immensely popular establishment in our country, and it’s great no matter what the weather is doing! Most casinos are open late at night, letting you take advantage in your downtime after work… but if even that isn’t late enough for you? Well, the online casino could be a great alternative, and will let you have fun even when you’re sitting at home. Playing online roulette has become a super popular option for Australians in recent years!
One of the great things about online casinos is that they offer a whole myriad of games that all fit in your pocket. Roulette used to be something you could only enjoy if you headed to a physical building (who was going to have a full-size roulette table at home, after all!), but now, online roulette in Australia is readily available! You can play it at 4 in the morning on the sofa in your slippers if you like. You can try out different versions, including live roulette – great if you want the fun of the physical casino without the hassle of actually going to one. Here, you’ll have a dealer spinning the wheel, streamed across live video and audio feeds, and you can often interact with them if you choose to – great if you feel you’ll miss out on the social element by going digital.
And if you get bored of roulette, there are tons of other games out there to try, both at the casino and on the wider web as a whole. Join a poker game or try your skill at online chess, or plunge into one of the many, many browser options! There are so many picks here, it’s easy to revamp your hobbies and add some cozy gaming time for the darker months.
That said, you want your home to feel amazing if you’re going to be spending time gaming… so let’s get stuck into the homeware brands next!
1. Fazeek
Fazeek is a homeware brand for girls decorating their new apartments. Formed in Melbourne Australia, Fazeek focuses on “contemporary homewares, fragrance and ambience.” It is a little pricey and considered designer homeware, but honestly, the colourful designs are gorgeous and perfect year-round!
Fazeek launched in 2017 and their speciality is colour. Think bright blues, pink pastels, and elegant greens. Especially pretty from Fazeek is their Four Striped Candles which are a perfect addition for any dinner party. Prices start around $29.00 for their candles, but if you’re looking to add a pop of colour to your home, you can’t spare any expense.
2. Designstuff
Looking for that minimalist Kardashian look in the home? Look no further than Designstuff. A little weirdly named, Designstuff is a go-to brand for everything minimalist in the home. They have bathroom stuff, baby stuff, and wall art. Designstuff is a bit like an outsourcer for designers as they stock homeware brands of established and up-and-coming designers.
The brand was created by Christina Fedders in 2013 with a mission to “inspire and uplift people and their spaces through outstanding Scandinavian design.”
The store is an online one but they have everything you could need for homeware. Prices depend on the designer and what you’re buying, but they have more luxury pieces and more affordable ones for different budgets.
3. Curated Spaces
Curated Spaces is a shopper’s dream. Perfect for finding elegant living room furniture, the brand stocks everything online. There is no denying Curated Spaces is expensive, but it is a brand where you can elevate your home with staple pieces. A lot of the furniture is also older and is made focusing on craftsmanship rather than style.
This brand is also pretty new, founded in 2015 by Pip Newell. Originally, it began as a vintage marketplace, but grew into a furniture brand with many vintage suppliers.
4. In The Roundhouse
Another cute and quirky brand, In The Roundhouse was founded by Alyce Tran and Brooke Bickmore. The mission of the brand is to “create unique, modern, and memorable homewares”. You could argue that In The Roundhouse has a similar style to a lot of modern homeware brands and places like Oliver Bonas, but nobody has signature plates like In The Roundhouse.
More recently, they’ve been known for their scallop-shaped homewares and their value sets. The value sets are boxed sets from different collections. Their Italian collection has a boxed set of plates and mugs, for example, which retail at $250.00. Not bad considering if you were opting for a new kitchen, you could buy one or two collections and cover all your plate and cup needs! Crockery is essential in any kitchen, especially if it’s being revamped for 2025.
